Season seven of the hit dystopian anthology series Black Mirror has just dropped on the global streamer.

Six episodes make up the latest release for the Charlie Brooker helmed series.

However, some fans have been left dumbfounded by the second instalment of the latest series.

The name of a restaurant in the Bête Noire episode is apparently different for them than for other fans who watch the show.

It follows a researcher called Maria (Siena Kelly) when her former classmate Verity (Rosy McEwen) comes back into her life and turns it upside down.

Using a high-tech necklace, Verity changes the reality of Maria and those around her as they become concerned about her.

In this edition, Maria insists to someone that her boyfriend used to work in a chicken shop called ‘Barnies,’ whilst everyone else tells her it was actually named ‘Bernies’.

She does some online research and discovers that those around her are correct, which leads her to question what is happening.

However, she is not the only one who is confused as some fans have taken to social media as they noticed that the name of the chicken shop is spelt differently for them compared to other fans.

On X – formerly known as Twitter – one user shared multiple screenshots of the episode that were taken at exactly the same point.

The two images shared the exact same timestamp, but it showed the subtle spelling difference as one showed the restaurant with the ‘Barnies’ spelling as another had the images read as ‘Bernies’.

They wrote: “So my friend and I were watching the new Black Mirror episode Bête Noire, and we noticed that there was a stark difference between our episodes… even the viewers are getting gaslit at 16:40!”

Some users praised the showrunners as they flooded the comments section of the post after it went viral, however others were also left confused.

“The showrunners probably did that to mess with people lol,” stated one fan.

A second stated: “Black Mirror filming two versions of the bernie’s/barnie’s scene and distributing them randomly is next level diabolical.”

As a third viewer seemed to agree: “Oh this is diabolical.”

“WTF IS THIS!?” asked a fourth fan.
